Nigerian man stabs 'brother' over Ronaldo/Messi comparison


A Nigerian man has been arrested by the police in India
for stabbing his countryman to death following an argument about Ronaldo and Messi.

A 21-year-old Nigerian, Micheal Chukwuma, has been arrested by the police in India for allegedly stabbing a fellow Nigerian,Obinna Durumchukwu, 34, to death during an argument that ensued between them on who is a better footballer between Argentine and Barcelona star, Lionel Messi and Portuguese captain and Real Madrid player, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The incident which reportedly took place in a pub in a Mumbai suburb, was said to have started when the issue of who is the best footballer in the world erupted and as tempers flared as the argument raged on, Chukwuma and Durumchukwu who were said to be good friends, began exchanging words, with insults flowing back and forth.
In the heat of the argument, they both engaged in a fisticuff which culminated in Chukwuma stabbing the victim with a broken glass.
A police officer narrated how the argument started and generated into the death of the victim:
"The friends entered into the debate as they were ardent football fans. The victim entered into the heated conversation and considered Lionel Messi to be the best football player but the accused were supporting Cristiano Ronaldo.
When the accused started leaving, the victim threw a glass on the accused which hit his face and the glass broke. The accused picked up the piece of the broken glass and, in a fit of rage, stabbed the victim in the throat.
The fight which started from football debate ended up with a murder. We have arrested the accused under sections 302(murder) and 34(common intent) of the Indian Penal Code."
