Leicester City fans already selling scarves celebrating Foxes' Premier League title win ahead of key clash with Southampton
Leicester City fans will be hoping their side do not bungle their title run-in the same way a confident scarf-seller has botched his latest product.
Ahead of the Foxes' Barclays Premier League clash with Southampton one merchant was selling scarves emblazoned 'Leicester - Premiership Champions'.
Whilst many, including Claudio Ranieri, would consider the statement premature it is also technically flawed. England's top flight ceased to be the Premiership back in 2007 when it re-branded as the Premier League.
No home fans at the King Power Stadium will care if their side go on to fulfil the merchant's prophecy. However some might be hoping his scarves do not jinx their chances.
Ahead of the Foxes’ all-important home clash the scarves were being sold by the optimistic entrepreneur, for £5 and appeared to be very popular. The scarf-seller is a Chelsea fan and no-doubt will be hoping the Foxes win the title ahead of Blues London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
As long as Ranieri’s win the title the seller will be on to a winner but if not his product could end lining bins around Leicester come May.
Spurs are four points behind the leaders while Arsene Wenger’s men are now eight points adrift of top spot. For Foxes fans feeling less than confident they could always keep hold of the receipt.
Elsewhere the party atmosphere continued outside the King Power. Foxes chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha delivering on his birthday promise by offering fans a free beer and doughnut for attending the game.
Leicester fans certainly appreciated their chairman's generosity with the bottles of Singha and Foxes branded Krispy Kreme doughnuts flying out like hot cakes.
